This is a problem I wrote about in another thread, but it probably needs its own post.

In Populous 3, all my graphics settings are being reset every time I start the game. Resolution, detail, etc. aren't being saved (but it looks like my sound settings are preserved). Everything reverts to 640x480 with low detail each time I start the game.

I'm launching from the default desktop shortcut, which goes to "C:\GOG Games\Populous - The Beginning\GOGLauncher.exe" GOGPOPULOUS3"

Seems that launching it in software mode preserves the graphics settings, but then I get terrible mouse lag. Not a good solution...

I've been troubleshooting online and a lot of posts from a year or so ago reference a "Setup" executable that was installed in the GOG Populous folder. My installation doesn't have that exe. Did GOG remove it from the game at some point? Is there a way to get it back?

I hoped that changing the resolution that way might stick.
If User Account Control is enabled, then most settings are being stored in the Virtual Store. This is a very irritating feature of Windows Vista and 7, which causes the problems you describe: settings being saved in a completely different area than the game expects, which gives the illusion none of your settings are being saved. This can be fixed by either disabling the UAC (I recommend it, because it's annoying), or granting administrator rights to the Populous install folder.
Thanks. No luck, though. I already have UAC disabled. Just in case, I tried giving full access rights to the folder, but nothing changed.
I also cant save graphics settings, but more annoying than that I can't change resolution...

I had to rename atiumdag.dll to start the game because I'm running an older Radeon Mobility HD5730

Any ideas?
Same problem here.
Core i5 / 16GB / GTX670 / Windows 7 64bit
I played P:TB long time ago on old computers without graphic bugs and glitches and even those times this game do not saved screen resolution setting. This is not depend what OS you use, or your hardware, this bug is always been with this game.
