I will say I did a lil research and found a download for the community v1.03 patch and installed it but gotta say its MUCh buggier than gogs latest version
infact here is the url to get the download https://www.popre.net/downloads.php#patches
again tho I highly recommend avoiding it cause itll cause nothing but crashes for you if you have the gog version installed.
tho I do highly recommend going to said download url and getting the Displacements Patch.
I attached a photo so you may see it properly fixes a crap ton of the textures so they aint so jumbled and displaced

The 2019 update dix fix most of the D3D problems, including Win10 support wich was a little hit and miss. So yes, at this moment this thread is unnecessary.
It did introduce the planet bug though, wich the old version + DGVoodoo didn't had. It doesn't work with later AMD video cards as well, at least out of the box, where most textures flicker.
