During the missions, the gameplay becomes very laggy. It's gotten to the point that I can't even control anyone properly. Anyone else having similar issues?

BTW, running Windows Vista. I've already tried it with and without compatibility mode and running as admin.

look in C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Police Quest SWAT 1 2\SWAT 2 and there are 2 EXE files. SWAT.EXE and SWATog.EXE. Run the SWATog.EXE, and altho the movies will fail to load, the game will actually be playable.

Bump to the top.

I dont have the second .exe.

I was having the problem with the colors washing out but no lag, then i did the patch from this thread

*cant post the link apparently, but its the "SWAT 2 Multi-Issue Patch Package" one

The guy is a saint for putting it together for us, but... Now I'm getting serious graphics lag. Tried every compatibility mode available and running as admin etc.. Would really love to be able to play this game again!

Just decided to play this game again. It no longer has the SWATog.exe and the Multi Issue patch link is dead. If anyone has trouble in the future, I was able to make the game run smoother by checking "Run in 256 Colors" under the Compatibility tab.

This worked for me as well. Thanks very much. It makes the movies unwatchable, but at least the gameplay is finally smooth. I was worried I'd have to give up playing this gem of a game.

by "256 colours" you mean 8bit mode right?

with me it's even worse! the screen goes grey and the game is REALLY unplayable

Well, 8 bit is indeed 256 color, so it should be the same. It's most likely because you're running win10, yeah.

Can't help you there. Maybe support has an idea (don't hold your breath though as they still haven't fixed the game after all this time).
