If you already have the GOG version of the game, skip everything I just wrote.

Since it seems quite a lot of us like this game and would love to play it online with each other, but most already have purchased an earlier version or two of the game and don't feel like putting another $9.99 to it (even though it's GOG and everyone should support it). So I wanted to make sure they can indeed play together and went up and set up all the patches required and the proper installation steps to update your game to the latest possible version. Just follow the steps depending which of the versions you have; The original Close Quarters Battle, Elite Edition or Tactical Game of the Year. There's also the separation of the UK or US releases of the game, so choose your poison and have fun!

Since the original Sierra servers are long gone, most of the fansites have went under and FilePlanet doesn't seem to have all of the files, I have uploaded them all myself. All files have been compressed/archived with 7-Zip, because that's what I use and would recommend and nobody likes loose .exe files.

I can't absolutely guarantee which versions work with the GOG version and which do not, but I'm hoping people will help me test them out. To play the game online you will have to use an IPX Tunneling program like or [url=https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi2/]Hamachi.


1. If you have the original "Close Quarters Battle"

I can confirm the Elite Edition patches work and upgrade to version 2.1, no problems.

Also, if you have a DirectX error, run in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP and it should work.

Keep in mind guys as Firek said in another thread, the unins000.dat file created by the GOG installer (which is being updated) is perceived as a mod to SWAT 3, making the vanilla GOG version incompatible with itself and upgraded/native TGOTY CD versions in multiplayer. Just blow that file away and you will be able to join like-version games.

Hi,
Which version, in your opinion, is the best ? GOG, Steam, Retail ? I mean, I will install dgVoodoo and Last Resort anyway, im just curious from base game perspective. For instance, someone told me that GOG version of Stalker is restricted to 60 fps, while Steam has unlocked fps.
