So I tried playing PQ1 (the VGA version) today, not via the GOG DOSBox setup but by directly my ScummVM to the GOG install folder. Anyway it gave me this message, I don't intend to play it through DOSbox, so anyone know how to remove this patch?

I don't know anything about the game patch.

However, I do suggest playing the SCI VGA Sierra games in Dosbox as they tend to have better timings and run more efficiently than they do in ScummVM. ScummVM tends to be a bit more choppy

I figured it out for you if you hadn't already. Remove the two 994 files and the two 999 files (.scr and .hep) from the Police Quest 1 VGA folder. These are the files added by the New Sun Rising Patch, which were life savers in the days before DOSBox and ScummVM.

Just to be clear this message popped up for me when I started the game but after clicking "OK" the game still started just fine.

Yeah it started fine for me too, I just didn't want to risk getting into an adventure game and getting some error that breaks my game or something.
