PQ4 uses an iso (renamed as "pq4.gog") that has two files on it that contain altered filenames. Namely, "README." and "VERSION.".
Files with a dot (".") on the end are extremely problematic in modern Windows, and I can confirm that checking my original physical CD version of the Police Quest Collection Series (CD #1), those files do *not*have a dot at the end, like other Sierra games from the same era (they also do not have extensions); they should be named 'README" and "VERSION". Copying the files from my original CD and deleting (after a fair bit of work) those mis-named files does not prevent the game running (presumably since they are just text files the game itself never uses anyway).
Is there a reason those filenames were changed or was this an issue with the actual pressing of the CD used for this digital release? I only own PQ4 physically as part of the Collection Series and so can't confirm if the naming error was present on the initial CD standalone release or a later collection.
