Is this copy protection?
I can't figure out what I'm doing at all

It's not copy protection. You aim right at the bullseye and see how your gun calibration affects your aim. If your shots are low and to the left then when you type "adjust sights" you tap your arrow keys up and to the right. Then you fire some more rounds on a new target. Repeat until your sights are aligned.

You may need to do this more than once if anything happens to your gun hand!
