GOG's version comes with version 1.05. However the game version is 1.06e and even the 1.06d one doesn't works properly.

Strange; I have version 1.06e

Maybe it's an issue with the direct download link? I installed with Galaxy.

The game now says 1.06f, however the folder inside ModKit is 1.05. GOG changelog says the game is 1.06f... confusing.

It seems a patch was just released, as Polaris Sector updated to 1.06f when I launched Galaxy.

Yes, the game is now 1.06f. The modkit however doesn't seems to have changed.
