Are there any mods for POD? I would love to see some HD textures or assets.

I'm very happy to tell you that there are a lot of mods for POD! :)

Though, not in the common sense of the phrase, unfortunately...

All the user created tracks are actually mods to the game, and the community has given us a lot of track retextures, like Down Town Zion, Bank Discover and Pompeii Raiway. They are actually very fine pieces of work. :)

Newly modelled tracks include Slimepit (Parc and Down), Tron and Forest, Newsance and many others. You can download all these tracks from RayKoopa's POD forum in one big file:

There are also a lot of user created cars and sound mods.

Unfortunately, POD's engine has limited us quite a lot, so HD textures - in the sense of higher resolution textures - is impossible for now, at least for the 3Dfx version. There is only one track I know that has textures with a higher resolution, and that's Hellway Hi-res, which I think can only run if you install the DirectX 5 patch.

Now, for something that I've tried...

You can emulate the effect of HD textures quite well with a graphics enhancement mod - like ENB or SweetFX. And that's what I did with my work - along with a few track reskins and HUD modifications:
