Honestly i think this is one of the most overrated "pod" racing games ever... and im not talking about the graphics but about the gameplay...I should bought Powerslide but POD was so cheap with the Ubisoft weekend i didnt resis it.

Anyway it made me remember one of the most underated Pod Racing games ever, POWERDROME, a true forgotten and buried jewel, wish maybe gog.com revive it here.

POD is all about fun, wonderful tracks, colors, I just love it. I enjoy it this way: I choose the first track and a car (any); I play with default settings and most probably I loose the race; then I change the settings until I win, or perhaps I have to choose another car, change setting, play until I win the race; then, to the second track... The game is so beautiful, the tracks so wonderful that's enough for me. It would be great to have a more realistic behavior (brakes, for instance, are almost useless), but POD is still lots of fun as it is.

The game is fun, i just hate so much the "unrealistic" hit boxes the cars had... it´s like they have invisible barriers 1 meeter away from their wheels... i hated in the past, im hating it now... anyway the game is good and funny, but dont you think is kinda overated? It reminds me how underated are other "scifi" racing games, as the one i mentioned.

Anyway i love the "pod" cars design, is so... "ugly" that is beutiful at the same time... because is weird.

Interesting, I've never noticed the "hit boxes", you're probably right. What I don't like in POD is that sometimes I feel the game is cheating against me, a car that suddenly starts to run faster, or even cheating to help me win. I saw the video you posted, yes, Powerdrome looks great, it'd be a great addition to GOG.

I don't think POD is overrated, it's just "averagerrated", there's only two pages of comments for instance, but it's a pearl of its time and still playable. Again, I like it because it's fun and it's weird, but it lacks in terms of challenge. Sometimes it's even boring. By the way, I think the reviews here at GOG are mostly by fans, so games are mostly overrated, POD among them.

You can get much more about POD at http://www.thebasingers.com/0706milbs/pod/
Oh nice website! all that stuff works in the gog version of the game?

I'll have yet to find the time to try some, but they recommend gog's version mostly

The POD Data Patcher (CDPatcher) requires a %WinDir%\UbiSoft\ubi.ini with at least this entry:

[POD2_0]
Directory=C:\Program Files\GOG.com\POD GOLD\

(you might have to change the path)
