Hey, guys,

Is there are a way of increasing the lap number? Because some races really seem a bit too short :D

And can you make the music play on Road70? Or was it just intended to be a silent track?

Thanks in advance,

Darkriot (aka Stealth)

Yeah, I made a hack some years ago to let you drive 8 laps on any track you chose.
You won't see the effect when chosing the track, but as soon as you cross the start line.

Here's a CT file for CheatEngine: http://pod.vibeware.net/PODX3Dfx.CT (rightclick, save as file anywhere)
After opening it in CE, just tick the box "Force 8 Laps" before you start the race.

You can also edit that script to allow a specific number of laps. But more than 8 laps causes weird behavior and eventually crashes the game (the more opponents the earlier), and lap 16 is counted as lap 0 and the race starts over (with you being last), lap 17 actually becoming a second lap 1 and so on - if you ever get that far without a crash.

It looks like Pod has some issues formatting the position table at the top right when too many people are in lap 9 or later. If you enable the minimap, opponent positions start to go higher than the ASCII character for 9, resulting in = and ? being shown on the minimap. Also the timetable at top right is totally messed up when showing the first players position.
Nico, I actually came here to ask you: can you fix it? :D

There's also a "Stupid hacking for 9+ lap fix" checkbox, it's just nopping opcodes who started to go crazy, cuz I was simply upset about this stupid bug. If you want to prolong racing and delay the crash, use it, but it's anything but perfect (and the time strings are all formatted badly without zeros filling them up).

Yep, there are also some other features in that CE like unlocking the Car settings and allowing stupid values, and some fun with the race and physics timer, including the start countdown.

The Road70 circuit is probably bugged, there's no reason why the music shouldn't play. I let it play in Foobar anyways in the background, so I can change the speed and pitch for different moods :D
There are also some other circuits without any background music, AFAIK the track file specifies what music plays (even though there's only the CD track in the final release, but I discovered some referenced MIDI files once which are not on the CD - I searched for their filename once and found some, but the music mood wasn't fitting the game at all).

PS: 8 laps on Arcade take around 19 minutes, now that's real endurance mode! I only got 2nd in Hard mode until today and never 1st then... that Nitro imposer is driving like a badass, and without manual gear you just can't get over the steep hill in the underwater tunnel nicely.

Now that's the real deal! Thanks, DebugErr. :)

I was playing around with the POD tools these days, and found another solution, much more... uhm... well, it messes up the track files, but oh well. :D

You download the track files from Phreakindee's website, open it's .BIN file with the PODPatcher (which you can find at Phreakindee's website) and change the lap number to 8.

Do have in mind that if you've already installed a track (for example the Arcade track), you might have to uninstall it before using your modded .BIN file. And if you want to get back to the original, you might have to uninstall your modded version and use the original downloaded files.

DebugErr: Nico, I actually came here to ask you: can you fix it? :D
To be honest, currently this is very unlikely due to my limited spare time.
But maybe I stumble across it some month/years later, who knows :D
Great, I don't have too much time too, at least I spent it on other things.
But it would be really interesting to find out what the problem caused, and how the lap counter could be extended :)
thx for the answer! :)
