During the past Ubisoft weekend sale, I bought two copies of POD. One for myself and one I gifted to my friend for when we get together to LAN game. According to the GOG.com store page...

"Multiplayer notice: The game's multiplayer servers have been taken offline and the only multiplayer options available are LAN and local split-screen."

When I went into the Multi Players menu, the Network button did not highlight, and Internet did. The "server" that's offline is obviously the Game Service button. The Internet button is the key to playing a LAN game of POD. That said, I decided to make this post to help others who wish to play POD over LAN.

Please note I do not think this would work for Internet play, despite the button saying Internet.

1. Go to the options menu if you wish to set your in-game nickname.
2. Click the "Multi Players" button to enter the multiplayer menu.
3. Click the "Internet" button so it is highlighted, next to "Network" and "Internet" the number 650 will appear, do not change it. Also the word "Internet IP" will appear in the second "call/answer" box.

Hosting A Game (make sure the Internet button is highlighted)
1. To host a game, click the "answer" button. This will make your computer's IP address (this is not a public IP address) appear, give it to the other players.
2. With the "answer" button down, click OK.
3. In the lobby area, click "add" to create a session, you can also name the session, and press Enter
4. Once players join, set up the race and click continue to choose a car/setup and start the race.

Joining A Game (make sure the Internet button is highlighted)
1. To Join a game, enter the host's IP address and click the "call" button, then click OK.
2. The lobby area appears, when the name of the session shows up, click the button next to it to join.

This is how I got LAN multiplayer working, at least for me it worked this way. I'm posting this in hopes it will help those who want to play POD with their friends at a LAN party or get together. I tried to make it as clear as I could. Keep in mind I do not know if this works online, I just posted this as LAN multiplayer is mentioned on the GOG.com store page. Really hope this helps someone.

Edit: Made some corrections to instructions.

Although I have POD Gold on my shelf for years I only tried the multiplayer feature on the 1st january.
I failed even after reading this Post. The host pushes Answer, the guest Calls ? Don't you need a third party software to emulate ipx like Hamachi ?
