Printer requires composite to make generator but printer requires generator and composite cannot be printed with emergency printer ... what am I missing? The devs can't understand basic dependencies or we can get composite elsewhere to make a generator?

New survival is hard.
You need complete Objectives and use Scaner for open new recipes.
I visited ~ 40 emergency beacons before I got the mining machine...
