So after having successfully played through the Enhanced Editions for Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, and most recently Icewind Dale on the same computer, I installed the Enhanced Edition of Planescape: Torment only to find myself suffering from an awful memory leak.

While playing the game memory usage starts increasing at a steady and seemingly endless rate, which eventually slows the game to a crawl before hard-locking the machine. The leak appears to go away upon restarting the game but it will eventually return, and my memory usage as reported by Conky also does not seem to decrease upon exiting the game. A full system restart is then required in order to clear it.

I have tried both the Torment and Torment64 binaries in the "game" directory but both exhibit the same behaviour. I also disabled all the toggles in the graphics options to no good effect, as well as clearing my game configuration and save files. I am running the latest version listed as v3.1.4.0 in the game menu.

There appear to be no other apparent issues with the game, and the other Enhanced Editions I have installed are still running fine.

BD won't even bother to make sure their builds work out of the box for like years worth of successful distro releases. And you want them man valgrind!

PS regards to Liam and his his personal emporium of woke linux gaming extremism.
