Porkdish: I tend to see this as a reason it won't happen. It would be just too much work (impossible?) to get the combat to a satisfying state for those looking for combat similar to IWD.

The only way I would consider getting an EE edition is if they put the effort into making an even more infinity-engine-choose-your-own-adventure-novel mode. Where the interactive combat bits, just happen as in game cinematics.

Zippydsmlee: If they use BG2 style combat or better why not just play the game, the combat should not be untouched its abotu the only thing that's needs an overhaul besides all the bugs and unfinished content, ect.
Not sure what you mean when you say the combat needs an overhaul but I will say that combat was never supposed to be the focal point in PS:T.

So it would destroy the game if combat/stats/skills/magic was cleaned up and polished? I think a better combat system would win over more people to buy the game but that's just me.

It's not that changes to the current system would destroy the game, it's just that there isn't a lot of combat in this game in the first place. Any changes made in this area would only be making small changes in the overall game and I doubt such minor changes would win people over. Personally, the only thing I would change would be the option to turn off the Final Fantasy style video segments when casting certain spells. I didn't find anything else particularly jarring.

However, if part of the "combat system overhaul" is lots of new dungeons and dragon fights and +10 axes of ass whuppinness, then yes, these kind of changes would ruin the game. Anyone that didn't play PS:T because it lacks the things I just mentioned totally missed the point of the game.
