Thought about replaying this game again.... but i'm absolutely floored to read the BUG is still present in the game, a year later.

This one have NOT been fixed^^

At the end of the game when you face final boss, the game will freeze, as in you can't control your charactor.

There is NO warning on store page, noir have the thread been stickied on the forum

Why is that?
I have never encountered this on my three or four playthroughs, at least two of which have been on the GOG version. You make it sound like it bugs out 100% of the time, which it evidently doesn't.

So I take it you have a fairly modern pc and you're running windows 7-8 then?

If you say vista, xp, dos your whole argument is invalid

Win 7 64-bit on a three-and-a-half-year-old PC. I did finish the game twice on my Vista laptop; one of those was the jewelcase 4-CD version, the other most likely the GOG one.

Well color me suprised.

You see when I bought the game (gog) I tried it on 3 different systems, and the ending was the same.

Curious, did you use the fixpack/widescreen? I used the most recent ones

Thanks for your prompt reply

I only used the widescreen mod on the first playthrough, every mod from the GOG mod guide on each playthrough after the first. I can't remember encountering a single bug, despite reports that they might occur.

I assume you tried the exact same save file on those three systems? That could be the problem, although I understand that it's probably of little comfort. Sometimes the beginning of a bug and its results are quite distant; I'm afraid I learnt this the hard way as well, in Fallout: New Vegas.
I've never had a problem with the ending either. Windows 7 again, using the mods in the sticky thread, albeit with a manually patched widescreen patch to fix the crash on small interiors, because there wasn't a ready made one available last time I played. Didn't even know there was supposed to be an ending bug. o.o
if anyone wants to try and debug this issue

I've played it through twice. I'm on windows 7, no mods at all and no glitch at the end. I seem to remember a couple issues here and there as I played, but nothing that was "game breaking".

Fortunately, I had no problems. Installed all the recommended mods, Win7.

Any luck?
Maybe the source of the problems is the fixpack?
I'll start a new game without mods, I'll let you know if I have the same bug.
Ok, I finished the game in two different computers (One time with a mage, and another with a thieve. Without unofficial patches/mods). I had no problems in the end. I think that proves that the problem doesn't exist in gog version.

@greenfish:
Have you tried downloading the installer again, and playing the game without anything added?

I played through every single possible ending and way to get said ending, no problem. The only bug I had was TTO, when portalling to check on something so I could help my friends (I'm being vague as I can to not spoil it) the portal kept spinning but control was never restored to player. I reloaded the save and tried again and it worked. Windows 8.1 64bit. No troubles.

Also I followed the GOG Mod Guide for this game and played with all patches and mods installed, including Widescreen and high res.

So I REALLY hope you had submitted a bug ticket with GOG before you tried to scare away any potential new players from one of the greatest games of all time.
