As a new player to the game fresh off the slab, with my new pal Morte, we ended up chatting to the scribe in a nearby room who encouraged us to seek 'true death' and end the cycle of reincarnation.

I've played this game for about 15 mins and I'm already hooked. It's just so thought provoking. Makes me want to stay alive to see how it all pans out!

I took a small break, to make myself a brew and think about the game's concept. And I have to say that I am very impressed. Don't get me wrong, I'm in the Baldur's Gate camp when it comes to my preferred rpgs, but it's so refreshing for a game design to take this route. It's a welcome change :)

Death is the great unknown .. the final frontier .. so I'm hoping the game continues to explore it. Not that in real life I'm in a rush to find out, esp as life is so short anyway. But as a game concept I think it is intriguing. It encourages the player to think outside the box!

Anyway, as Spock would say 'Live long and prosper!

EDIT ........ I have returned, back into the 'abyss' ... Cos this game absolutely rocks .. it has hopeless, yet highly witty humour!!! ... and not playing this game is the true sorrow of un-played games ... and I've only played it for over an hour and I already think it's gonna be my fav rpg of all time .. for if not and the game fails to keep up this brilliance so far, that would be TRULY the sorrow of sorrows the gaming world will ever know ...

If I seem overly dramatic, it's because 'this, ladies and gentlemen ... has got me in a role playing mood!!!

I humbly THANK YOU all :)

NO!!! you are NOT being too dramatic.. in fact, i love to start the game over just to play out the scene with the scribe.. how to achieve True Death? and what keeps the Nameless One from it? all the questions are presented before you and then you're thrown out into this twisted world to slowly piece everything together. i love the feeling too!!! :)

i read almost everything. there is definitely a more descriptive and visual quality to the writing. and in the story, there is so much pain...

im glad to have read your post. thank you for showing that kind of passion. hope you have a great time with PST.

Glad to hear you are enjoying it. Out of curiosity, how far along are you?
If you like having your thoughts provoked in that direction, read up on Buddhism and you'll see where some of the ideas came from. :-)

Curious as to your thoughts at this point, wherever you are. I wonder, did you play with any mods or just the standard game first. Did you/are you playing a mage/high int. character to get the whole story? Are you aware they are making a "spiritual successor" in a game called "Torment: Tides of Numenera"? https://torment.inxile-entertainment.com/
