A minor quest issue that is driving me insane; In Mebbeth's first mage-related task, are you supposed to get an actual in-game item from her which you then show to a merchant in the Marketplace (after which you are re-directed to Mourns-For-Tree)?

I got the quest but no item (can't say for sure if I've accidently dropped something, which is one reason for asking this), and I'm unable to ask the fruit merchant anything at all related to the quest. Have also tried going straight to Mourns but that doesn't give me any way of moving the quest forward either, so right now I'm hopelessly stuck.

Another reason for asking is that I've had several crashes in Mebbeth's hut when trying to exit to Ragpicker's Square (but nowhere else in the game), so I'm worried that the quest has simply become stopped working. I'm using the WeiDU fix pack, GhostDog's UI and Bigg's Widescreen mod, by the way....

I figured out that it most likely is an actual object (which is listed as such in various FAQs) but it's impossible to tell at this point whether I really got it or not. Most likely I did, though, and sold it off at some point (in general, bugs are less likely than player stupidity). *Sigh*.... I know exactly where the merchant is (must have tasted his damn fruit a zillion times by now!) and there is nothing lying around on Mebbeth's floor.

If you sold it you can get it back by buying it from the merchant you sold it in the first place.

Yep, am working on that right now but the problem is finding the right one. I hadn't sold it to Mebbeth or the Marketplace merchants, which narrows the search a bit...

EDIT: Turns out I *had* dropped it in Mebbeth's hut after all; it was almost but not quite disguised behind a pre-rendered part of the background. Guess playing the game in 1920*1080 (!) does have its obvious drawbacks after all... ;)
