Anybody have this issue?
I get random crashes on 32 bit XP, I usually find that resetting helps decrease their frequency. It's pretty random though. Thankfully with the autosave system they're mostly a minor annoyance.

Crashes when transitioning areas/buildings are often caused by corrupt files.

You could try deleting all files from the games /CACHE and /TEMP folders. The game will replace the files when required.

Tried that and it keeps crashing randomly.

Check the /CACHE folder and see if there are any files being written with a size of 0kb

Did you install the game into PROGRAM FILES ?

I have this issue also (Vista 32 bit, fully modded game, not installed in 'program files'), but it's no big deal since it takes like, what, 10-15 seconds to restart the game and load a save. However, I have noticed that my internet security suite (Kaspersky 2011) sometimes pops up with a message that torment.exe is doing something suspicious (keylogging-behaviour), though it allows the exe so I don't think it has anything to do with that.

Out of interest, are you running vanilla Torment? Just wondering if it crashes when entering buildings/areas when unmodded also.

I just checked this, and there were none at o kb. I will try clearing the cache folder, though (temp is empty right now).

Crash problems have also been associated with the widescreen mod - not restarting the game after installing it, of you you change resolution during the game :

http://rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=29552&highlight=&sid=fcc959325a9aeb46bc10ffd54188dc67

Also, have you tried running the game after disconnecting from the internet and disabling Kaspersky ?
Haven't tried that, BUT after I disabled directdraw due to framerate issues (using Direct X SDK - see how in this thread: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/planescape_torment/q_framerate_issues/post14), I have not experienced any crashes during about an hour of playing where I spent several minutes traveling contionously between areas to try see if it had any effect on stability also, and seems it did.

EDIT: NOpe, just had a random crash:/ Ah well ...

I have the same issue and it always seems to happen in the same interior type (generic little house interior.) Luckily it's not too much of an issue as the game autosaves before any area transitions.
Yeah, same here, and likewise it's a mild annoyance but not a big deal, because it doesn't occur right after a re-launch. Otherwise nothing I've done in particular has helped with it.
Looking for a solution to this problem as well.

I still get this with the latest incarnation of the widescreen mod. I wish I hadn't deleted my old 1.0 version of the mod when I found there was a new release. I didn't change resolution with a game in progress, I started fresh. The first character was super, I didn't crash for hours... then quit the game.

I decided to start again with better stats and this character crashes over and over again when entering small buildings. The only thing I've changed is starting again... I didn't change the resolution and its crashing all the time.
I read somewhere crashes during save (and auto save during a load like entering a building) will happen more often if you leave the cursor in the HUD at your characters, icons etc. I don't know if this works but after reading this (I was at Curst) I think I only crashed three times (and thankfully no damn BSODs).

Do you think that old version of widescreen mod works better? It often crashes when I enter to small location as houses (and I know that is because of widescreen mod). It's really annoying. I had to stop playing.
Its probably same crash most people have with WS mod, see here:
