Hey Torment fans! I have run into a graphical error of sorts. First off, I'm running the original 4-disc US version of the game and I have installed a few patches I found before reading the official guide that has been going around. My patch installation steps are as follows:
1 Installed game via Disc 1
2 Installed Official Patch v1.1
3 Installed Quinn FixPack v1.37
4 Installed Quinn FixPack v1.37b Patch
5 Installed Tome o Cheats
6 Installed Armor by Platter
7 Intalled Lost Items
8 Installed Candlestick Quest (I think)
9 Installed Font Visibility Patch (then uninstalled)
10 Installed G3 Torment Tweak Pack v2 (but installing Max HP Tweak caused game to crash on startup, so I installed everything but that)
And I'm running Wndows Vista 64-bit with all system requirements met... obviously haha. Lots of stuff installed here now that I looked it up... I got this game PACKED with goodies.
Okay, so I re-installed the game only also to a separate directory to see if the patches had anything to do with it... tranferred my save games and the error / bug / glitch still appeared.
I've been taking my time doing sidequests and everything I can to be a good little Nameless One, but whenever I finally made my way to Ragpicker's Square, upon entering the map, there are giant black bars covering the map itself. It seems to be some sort of geometrical message my computer is trying to tell me. Probably something like, "Please, get rid of some of this CRAP! I can hardly BREATHE in here!!"
Okay, okay, all jokingness aside... I can still see Collectors standing still in various places on the map and a select few spots are still visible, but large black bars (or boxes, if you prefer) are placed strategically all over the map to where I can barely see anything to continue my game. There's a big one running right across Mebbeth's place to both sides of the entire map.
So. I'm quite positive that it has nothing to do with the Patch, FixPack or Tweak Pack v2. Can anyone help me pinpoint the Ragpicker's Square map .bif file? I am running the game on a virtual drive since my DVD-ROM flew apart a few months back. There could have been an inconsistency with data being read from the disc, as the game is quite old in my possession and had some minor wear and tear on it. So, if anyone can help me pinpoint the Ragpicker's Square .bif file on the disc I would be eternally grateful. Even more-so, and if it's not a legal issue, if someone could supply the Ragpicker's Square .bif file, that would be even better. If it's not an issue.
I'm sure you're out there reading this thinking "man... this guy is determined as #*(&!!" And my answer to you would be, "Yes, kind sir. Yes, I am." I've had this game for YEARS and still haven't gotten around to beating it. I'd just like to be able to continue this storyline. Just as good as the first time I played it... Now that I have forgotten it after so many years. It's kind of like waking up on a slab and remembering something epic... Remiiind you of anyone???
Oh, and if someone knows if the more recent patches fixed something like this, that'd be great too.
Thanks! Hope you enjoyed my short novel.
