So, I'm playing for basically my first time, and I've finished my dealings with Pharod. I gave him the sphere and left. Later, I saw the cutscene where he died. My question is, is there an ingame reason to go back to him? I'm now in the lower and clerks' wards, and I have no more missions or quests down there (well, I never finished MAO's quest of discovering the silent king's weakness, but that's only because I didn't want to risk triggering everyone by opening the main doors).

While I the player know that P is dead, I the character do not. I'm trying to roleplay and can't think of a reason to go back to see if he has any loot on his body or anything. I thought the cutscene meant that I was going to find out about it, someone would tell me, something would happen, even Annah would say something but... nothing. The only sense I can get from the cutscene is that the shadows are on my trail. And now Annah just left because she hates the succubus.

Am I missing something or was the cutscene just to set the mood of the danger I'm in?

My memory is foggy but I think the character knows that Pharod dies. I recall there was a dialogue with Annah about the Pharod and that he died.

Anyway, you should play the way you want. No need to take advice from others :-) The game is too good for that and you should experience it by yourself. But if you don't mind spoilers below I include one

SPOILERS
There are two reasons to go back:
1. To get the bronze sphere.
2. There is a hidden portal where you can get Pharod's loot
I don't think you get any explicit reason to go back to Pharod at this specific point, but... you can, IIRC, talk to Annah about his search for the Bronze Sphere, and suggest that Pharod thought it could save his life, to which Annah says it's not possible. I think you have to hear Reekwind's tale about him to trigger that line. Also, if you ask her where Pharod keeps his stuff, you eventually guess that his crutch is really a portal key. That's about the closest thing to a reason to go check up on him you can get.

(You could've kept Annah, BTW; with high Charisma it's possible to convince her to stay without having to kick out Grace.)

Thanks. I may leave his stuff behind then.

Be aware that you'll miss a rather significant event/dialogue during the endgame, if you don't get the Bronze Sphere back.

At the very least, I would suggest waiting for a certain point in the story where you'll want to wrap up the Sigil sidequests (won't spoil when; you'll know), and then making a tour all over the map to make sure nobody wants anything from you anymore, visiting Pharod's place in the process. In that case, TNO is actually aware he is about to get busy with other stuff for a while, so it would make sense for him to try and clear his quest log and whatever he may have missed.

Or, if you need a more specific reason to retrieve the Sphere later: one of your past incarnations obviously knew something about it (and some of the stuff you learn about him may or may not raise the question of why Pharod really made you search for it...), and since you're most likely trying to figure out what the heck happened, you may want to hang onto anything even remotely connected to your past.

I may do that. I'm currently stuck on getting into the siege tower (don't tell me), so I'm already having to look around to figure out how.
