Can you use skills/spells from other classes when you change your class? I want to be a thief that could cast spells and i wanted to know if this was possible. Sorry if my question sounds stupid.
answer pls.
Pretty sure you can't. If you're a thief you can't cast spells, and if you're a mage you can't sneak and steal and such. There are no multiclasses either in the game. Well, sort of as you can change between class when you feel like it, but not in the normal sense from Baldur's Gate for example. If you want to cast spells, you need to be a mage, which is what most people do anyway as it goes nicely together with having high intelligence and wisdom. Wisdom is needed to get the most out of this game dialogue-wise.
Nope, you can only use class-specific abilities when you're that class. Also, while you can change classes at will (at least once you've gone through the quests to obtain the mage and thief classes, as well as through the necessary dialogues with certain companions so that they can change your class wherever you are) each class levels up individually so you can't just gain a bunch of levels as a fighter then expect to switch to a mage and suddenly be able to cast high level spells. Also, if memory serves, stat increases only occur when you gain a level in your highest class (so if you've gained 10 fighter levels, then switch up to a mage, you'll only gain the next stat point once you hit level 11 as a mage). Additionally, there are two class bonuses ( I think at levels 7 and 14), but you'll only get both of them if you hit both those levels as the same class. Because of all of this, while it's still worthwhile to go through the quests to gain the ability to switch to the thief and mage classes, for the bulk of the game you'll want to try to stick to a single class rather than switching between classes on a regular basis.
There is only one thing that transfers: Thac0. You will always use the best available Thac0 regardless of your class, but the Thac0s are all calculated separately.

So if your Fighter Thac0 is 15, your Thief is 17, and your Mage is 19, you'll have a 15 Thac0 at all times... but if you aren't planning on putting any more levels into Fighter, you'll have to gain 5 levels (Thief) or 14 levels (Mage) to get it down to 14.

One of the tweak or fixpacks changes this, but I heartily disagree with that alteration and think that the original system is much better, so I always comment out that section in the installer.
