Hey everyone,

I had a question that has been bugging me. I last played PS:T a few years ago so I may just be forgetting the details regarding this, but I was curious about the details surrounding TTO slaying Ravel.

My first question is,why does he slay Ravel? I think I read somewhere it was because he wanted to kill off everyone who knew anything about how he came to be, and the history behind TNO's immortality. That makes sense, but where in the game does it say this? Or is it just inferred?

Secondly, during their conversation, Ravel says " I had thought that dying at his hand would fulfill the requirements the past put forth..." What exactly does she mean by this? I have no idea what requirements she is referring to.

Finally, this may be reading too much it...but I find it odd that he says "Arise or I shall slay you were you lie" and then goes on to kill her anyway :)

Thanks in advance for your responses...every once in a while I get nostalgic and watch videos of my favorite scenes from this game. Greatest. Game. Ever.

Any help or ideas on the topic? Thanks!
Bump. Any thoughts would be much appreciated....even if you don't know the answer!

He was covering his tracks - he wanted to kill anybody who could lead TNO into the Fortress, so he could "live" there in peace uninterrupted and safe from the only danger Multiverse had for him - that's why he sent Shadows to kill Pharod and killed Ravel. Probably he'd go after Fhjull and Trias (if they survived their encounters with TNO) if he had time to do it.

I assume he's talking about Practical dying at hands of TTO - Ravel probably thought that'd kill TNO for good.

I guess he just gives her a chance to die in a honorable fight \ defeat him if she's powerful enough.

Ohhhhh....when she says "I had thought dying at his hands..." she was talking about TTO dying at the prior incarnation of TNO. That makes a lot of sense. Every time I have played through the game I always assumed she was referring to herself almost dying at TNO's hands during the present incarnation. But the entire conversation makes a lot more sense now that I know she is referring to TTO "dying at his hands."

Thanks so much!!!

The other way around, I think : ) Practical Incarnation died at hands of TTO (and possibly is the only incarnation who found his way into the Fortress). I assumed Ravel thought that if TTO kills TNO in the Fortress TNO will remain dead \ his curse will be reversed \ they'll merge.
TNO had souls of his companions to consume (just as he does in his last incarnation) so he survived.
That was TTO's real purpose before the curse - kill TNO when his time came.

Hm....interesting! Haha...when Ravel says "I had thought dying at his hand would fulfill the requirement...", she is talking to TTO. Therefore, I assume his must refer to the Practical Incarnation (implying TTO being slain by Practical Incarnation). If she said dying at your hand, then it would make more sense referring to TTO slaying Practical. Then again, Ravel's grammar has always been a little questionable...!

The other reason why I think Ravel is referring to Practical slaying TTO is because TTO's response to Ravel is "You cannot have thought that one would have a chance...you were indulgent to let him think he was successful." How I interpret this entire conversation is, Ravel says (paraphrase) "I thought that Practical killed you and that would break the curse and you two should have merged." TTO's response is "You can't really believe he would have successfully killed me." Seems to make sense to me...or maybe I've been pouring over this too long and I'm starting to make no sense!

EDIT: Actually, one way that I can see it making sense is if Ravel is having an internal dialogue with herself. If she says in her head "I had thought dying at his hand would fulfill the requirement..." Then TTO just talks directly to her and says "You cannot have thought that one would have a chance..." (referring to the current incarnation) to which Ravel responds out loud to him "Powerful this incarnation is..."

That seems to make sense to me too!!

I assumed she's musing to herself, surprised that TTO is alive and well : )
Just as in your edit : )
And the game establishes that Practical went to the Fortress, lost two of his four companions and died there as well. He must've got far as you can find a gift from him in the room where you face one of your companions, just before you can be teleported to the Fortress roof (that one additional location isn't a real place I believe).
What the heck? I kill Ravel but the game ends with a message that an important source for my quest is no longer around, or something like that. I thought there is more to the game. What am I doing wrong?
