I tried to follow the ultimate mod guide here on gog.

I have downloaded and installed the widescreen mod without problems.

Then I downloaded the mod from ghostdog that does the UI scaling.
When I want to unzip the file I get an error message and I cannot use the .exe file.
I tried to download it from several websides but the result was always the same.

Did anybody have the same problem?
Does somebody have the unzipped files that work?
Or does anybody have an older version that works?

In case it does not work, what was the default resolution of PST?
I do not care so much about graphics. I have finished the vanilla game a long time ago and now I wanted to see the game with bugfixes and unfinished business before the new torment game is released.

Mad3: ...
The default resolution is 640x480.

I tested the v.2.2 mod file available here, and it unpacks and launches normally. Were you installing a different one? What kind of an error message did you get?
I could download and install all mods from the modding guide.
Maybe it was just a problem with the unzip program, because it worked with a different one.

Now there is only one problem: When I open inventory or character screen, it fills only the upper part of the screen.
The mod from ghostdog increases the text in the dialogue window, but not all other sub screens.

I chose a medium resolution (I think 1280 * 760, not sure). If I make it bigger, everything is very small and if I make it smaller I see only a very small part of the map.

I'm pretty sure that's how it's supposed to work. These screens don't get scaled to fit the full resolution, so you'll see bits of the main environment under them. What the mod actually changes is that they appear centered instead of being stuck in the top left corner. So unless they ended up being too small, it's normal.

The mod settings really depend more on the physical screen size. It's possible to have a monitor that is too small for anything in the game to be at a comfortable size when set to the max resolution.
The game runs fine and I have lots of fun.
Just 2 questions:

- Sometimes when I use quick save by pressing Q, the game stops. I can load this save, but the game does stay in the load screen and does not return to the map. All I can do is to enter task manager and restart computer. I cannot stop the program because I connot use the mouse in task manager. This problem can be avoided by using the main menu to save. Is there a way to avoid this problem?

- Is there a way to see combat messages like in the other IE games? I want to see who attacks who and how much damage is done in the dialogue window, not as floating text.
