Black stripes in Planescape Torment
Check out the screenshot attached below - that's how the game looks on Windows 8 and - now that I've upgraded - on 10, too.

I've tried starting as root, playing around with resolutions aswell as the ddrawfix tool. Also let win try and fix it - even if that's never done any good. I can't get this to run properly. Edit: Widescreen mod and all other recommended fixes haven't had an effect on the black stripes either.

geforce 780
amd fx
win 10

Any kind of help is highly appreciated. I expected games acquired from GOG to run out of the box. Sad to see that there is tinkering involved.

Here's a quote from GOG support, maybe this helps somebody else. Did nothing for me.

1) Please make sure that you use "Run as Administrator" to install and to start the game (right-click on the shortcut or setup file and select "Run as Administrator"). If you are using Galaxy, then make sure to run Galaxy as Administrator.

2) Please reinstall the game AND add it to your anti-virus/firewall software's exception/trusted list. Simply disabling the firewall or AV software could not be enough, since some of theses software are still running in the background or in the services list. If you are using Galaxy, then please add Galaxy as well.

3) Reinstall the June 2010 DirectX runtime package. You can find the archive file containing the 2010 package installation files here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

After that please download and install the DirectX Web Installer:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=35

You will have to extract the files into some folder, then open that folder and launch the DXSETUP.exe file in order to proceed with the installation.

4) Maybe you have some settings forced on your graphics device in NVidia Control Panel. If so then try to reset them:
I) Right-click on your desktop and select Nvidia Control Panel.
II) Click Manage 3D Settings.
III) In the upper-right corner, click Restore Defaults.

5) Try disabling DSR:
http://www.gog.com/support/support_view/potential_issues_with_supersampling_dsr_factors_feature_on_highend_geforce_cards

6) Please set a more standard refresh rate (60 Hz), to do this right-click an empty space on your desktop, select Screen resolution > Advanced settings, on the Monitor tab change the Screen refresh rate to 60 Hertz.

7) If you are using G-Sync please disable it. This guide could be helpful:

8) Please open the Control Panel (you can do it by using WinKey+X key combination) go to Programs > Programs and Features, click the Turn Windows features on or off link, find the Legacy components on the list, enable DirectPlay and click OK to install it.
I usually suggest to set the compatibility mode for the game to "Windows Xp": this solves a lot of issues.
That said, this user apparently had the same problem and solved it lowering the Windows resolution, not the game's one.
