I'm having a bit of a problem with the recently released port of Planescape for Mac (well, other than the constant crashes, but those were more annoying than anything else, and I already suffered them in the Windows version). The thing is, today, when I turned on my computer and started playing Planescape, the screen suddenly turned to flickering black and white rectangles (while the audio of the game sounds in the background). I've tried rebooting the game, the computer, and to my dismay, this doesn't look like a temporary thing. If this were the Windows version, I'd try one of the many fixes around, but there are no such things for the Mac version. Does anybody know how to fix this (very inconvenient) thing? Thanks in advance!

Yeah man, I just had the exact same thing happen to me. Really pisses me off too, as I had just gotten out fo the Hive. They need to release an update for the Mac version ASAP.

I am not home now and I can't download the installer, but I guess I have a hunch how to solve. GOG probably uses Wine for running Windows games on Mac. For this particular problem try to run Winetricks "ddr=gdi Set DirectDrawRenderer to gdi". I can't give more specific instructions now without seeing how GOG's Mac Planescape Torment is done.

If it would have been with Wineskin, I would do following:
1) Right click the application icon
2) Choose Show contents
3) From the opening view, double click the application
4) Assuming Wineskin has been used, select Advanced-> Tools -> Utilities/Winetricks.
5) Search for "ddr"
6) Select "ddr=gdi Set DirectDrawRenderer to gdi" and "Run" after that
7) After a while it should be done. Close open windows and try to run the game again.

I just installed Planescape Torment on my Mac. I didn't see any glitches / graphics corruption, although I didn't play so long. Just created a new character and played a minute. I am using Macbook Pro with Intel HD3000 integrated graphics. What kind of setups are you using? Does the glitch show in videos too or in gameplay?

I played Planescape Torment on Mac using very similar setup (Wine and Wineskin) that GOG is now packaging their PST Mac installation. I must say it was much more stable on Wine than when I played it with Windows when the game was new :-) My problems then were full screen flickering in black and white and crashes with certain locations (gallery and the hut).

The flickering problem went away by changing ddr=gdi with Winetricks. The crashes were related to higher resolution mod that I had installed, that problem has been since fixed too. There should be a thread here about it too.

ufoufo512's fix worked like a (clot) charm for me as well. Thanks! Glitch happened to me in the same spot curiously, shortly after leaving the hive.
