Been wanting this for some time(Thanks GoG). I was just wondering what the gameplay is like in Planescape: Torment? Does it play like Fallout? Bladur's Gate? or something else entirely.
The gameplay is real time with pause, 2nd edition D&D, like BG1 (in fact, they use the same engine).
Okay, cool. I don't have the patience for Fallout's turn-based hex-grid boringness(even though I love the game).

The thing that makes Planescape Torment unique (i.e. different from Baldur's Gate / Fallout) is it's focus on storyline.

This is the most dialogue heavy game around - and a lot of your playing time will be spent reading / going through an interactive storyline - where your dialogue choices influence other's reaction to you (and how the game plays out).

Otherwise, it's the same engine as Baldur's Gate and that's the closest match on this. Combat/Exploration is not the focus of Torment, however - it's really not comparable to BG on any other aspect.
There is still a LOT of combat in it but its feasible to avoid most of it even if it means running away but that never solves anything and you can't loot corpses for the jink

That said, it may not be necessary - you can get jink (money) and plenty of EXP from completing quests, and (IIRC) there are a whopping 4 encounters where you actually HAVE to fight.
There are a few places where its incredibly hard to avoid though
Expect to read a lot. This may not sound exciting, but the quality of the writing (and narrative) is such that you will be engrossed by its sheer beauty.

Hint/SPOILER: Dying occasionally helps you...
I'm fine with alot of reading(my favorite Jrpg is Xenogears, lol).

Thanks for everyone's input.
The combat in Planescape is similar to that of Baldur's Gate, however with different weapons and spells it is still a unique experience. I find that combat is a bit easier in Planescape than in either BG1 or BG2. In my opinion this is a strength rather than a weakness because it allows the player to spend more time concentrating on the story and less time being frustrated by repeatedly trying to coordinate a series of spells in just the right order to survive extremely challenging battles.

Having played BG1 and BG2 before Planescape, I went into my first game of Planescape expecting it to be essentially BG1 and BG2 in a different setting. I was pleasantly surprised by how unique and how different the Planescape experience is from BG1 and BG2, despite using the same Infinity engine.

DUDE MINE TOO!

I played it over this past summer, and I think it's better than FF.

The best RPG ever, however, is a toss-up between Xenogears and PS: T. You will LOVE this game.

That's good to hear, I'm realling digging it so far. Can't wait to get further into it.
