Just finished planescape tonight for the first time, i was trying to see how many hours it was but I guess the game has no play time counter or anything, I wanna guess i was on it about 60 hours, but anything over 20-30 hours is pretty hard to guess accurately.

I bought this as part of the "ultimate DND" bundle, and I was planning on playing through (I think this is a good order to do it in) Planescape, Baldur's Gate 1 + 2, Icewind Dale 1 + 2 and Neverwinter Nights 1 + 2. (Note that I've played none of them previously)

After how long of a game Planescape turned out to be, I'm now wondering if these 6 other games are similarly huge, as that would make me question the time commitment they would need!

So could someone give some estimates on the length of these 6 other dnd games? or if that's a hard one to answer, just a comparison to planescape?

I know there's a general forum but I felt this might get more relevant viewers here, even though i'm technically asking about other games.

It's hard to tell, especially because I always spend a lot of time in these types of games, trying to do everything possible and scouring for loot. BG1 with expansion is probably a bit bigger than PST, especially if you try to do all quests and such. BG2 plus expansion is even bigger I'd say. That game really is a mammoth. IWD is probably about on par with BG1. Haven't finished IWD2, barely played NWN1 and currently playing NWN2, so can't say much about those.

They're not games you should see as ticking off on a "Games Played" list though. They're marvellous games, in paritcular PST, BG1 and BG2, so sink your teeth into them and enjoy the ride. A good chance games you will play after these will pale in comparison, and you can only play a game for the first time once, so enjoy it while it lasts. I'd give a lot to be able to experience PST "blind" again... :|
If you're worried about time commitment in those games, give up now, because you won't enjoy them by rushing through them.
I have no intention of rushing through any game I play, what a waste of time that would be.

I also spend a lot of time in any game I play (assuming I'm into it, which is most of the time) - the only quests unfinished in my PST file at the end are retrieving porphiron's necklace (I missed it and it ended up disappearing) and selling one of my companions into slavery.

I also think about the commitment involved in most games I play though, because however good a game is there are always other games waiting to be played.

Whether I think about it as 'ticking off' games played, that's exactly what each of us do every time we finish a game, and there's nothing wrong with that.... The size of my 'games to play' list is 30+ strong at the moment and unfortunately I don't have an infinite time to do things, so I have to do some planning as to what goes on my 'to play' list, and think about what order I want to play them in. Maybe you guys are immortal like TNO and don't have to worry about rationing your time :)

But thanks for the estimates so far.

Is there a way to convert the game-world time to real-world time? When loading saves, we have stuff like "Day 7 16:30". Perhaps there's an easy calculation for that?
