Okay so let's see what we have here. We have a D&D crpg that is similar in some ways to Fallout but in other ways clearly different.

My first impressions are that it has a rich and vibrant story, and I'm so used to mmos where you just click through and don't really have to read that I actually feel my brain has been used playing the past couple of hours.

It's rich, it's detailed, it's wonderful in my opinion. I had never had the opportunity to play this game before, as when it came out I was busy doing other things like working construction 10 hours a day. I'm sad that I missed this one for so long.

Bottom line: If you enjoy crpgs this is a must have. It's got everything in it that justifies the hype it's sustained all of these years. If you haven't bought it already, do so. $10 is a steal when amazon is trying to charge $75 for a new copy.

So far I find the combat way better than what Fallout presented me. I never could get into Fallout because of that.. dying horribly to stupid rats in the first cave was retarded.

PST so far I'm enjoying. mostly because I don't necessarily *have* to fight, and well the combat at least works better than Fallout. Also the story has a way way better grab for me. I'm going to enjoy getting immersed in this game. Does not hurt that it still holds up well today graphically(after slapping on all the patches/fixes/mods anyway).
I bought this game waaaay back in the day. I didn't get far, mainly because I had no idea what the game was. I had never been exposed to fallout or baldurs gate or any type of CRPG built from D&D or a D&D variant system. I wish I still had that copy. I would totally play it like crazy. Rest assured, as soon as I can I am grabbing it from GOG.
I love it so far, just wish I could find a place to unload my loot.

Is it worth keeping until I find a buyer or should I just dump it/not pick up things that don't seem important?

For loot I'd keep the rings and expensive weapons (most common weapons are too cheap to lug around.) Also if you modded the game up the rings will now stack which is great. Having party members also helps.

EDIT: Oh, and you will find merchants to offload stuff to. There's a merchants square in the north near ragpicker's square.

I've played Planescape numerous times and each time it was a great experience. Big thing I suggest is if you are still in the beginning area...keep some junk on you. The game has a nasty habit of pulling surprises and making you pull out and use something you thought was completely and utterly useless.
Make sure you pick up Dakon, he's my absolute favorite character in that game.

I think Ravel is the best character in the game. :)

Yeah, some "junk" actually opens portals and sidequests, so be careful what you sell/toss.
