What transpired: I got the Baator portal and the option back to the Outlands from Fhjull, and killed him. Now I'm back from Baator (where I felt rather cheeky for giving away an already dead Fhjull's hideout) and the Tailbone Portal back to Curst in the Outlands does not show up.

Unfortunately, I do not have a savegame reaching far enough back.

I did already try the save/quit/load-fix, to no avail.

I'd very much like to try and spawn a new Fhjull in his cave and try to get the portal out of him as mentioned by bevinator in another thread, but after having a look at Near Infinity I realize I'm in dire need of some help with that.

In case it presents some evidence: The fiends that supposedly set out to kill Fhjull waited for me at the initial arrival point in Baator and, consequently, his cave was empty. Seems to me that the game recognized Fhjull's death but doesn't give me the portal anyway.

As far as I remember, I've made some serious mistakes and from what I've found around the Internet there may be a few points of no return here. Most of information from Fhjull may be provided by Pillar of Skulls (but be ready to pay a lot). Except for information about location of Pillar of Skulls itself - for this one Fhjull is the only source and killing him before this question answered is dead end.

In my case I didn't get all information from Fhjull (which is much easier then being charged by the same information by Skulls), revealed Fhjull location and lost all companions who supposed to be waiting for me there.

It was necessary to load an old save and reply small part of the game to solve the problem, because I didn't want to accept all consequences of my stupid choices.

For all cRPGs I use simple saving strategy to make a save named with number and location name at the beginning of every game area / story chapter (01_Sigil, ..., 33_Outlands etc.). The progress is saved in 34_ save and when new area is reached, the save is updated as 34_Baator and left like that; from this moment progress is saved as 35_ awaiting freeze in a new location. Works like a charm!
