It's been doing that for me since XP SP2, the game is definitely completable and saves have never corrupted so I'd suggest just ignoring it
It does lend itself well to long sessions, so that helps.

Agreed. This is an irritation, but not game breaking.
I've gotten so used to crash on quits from playing Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3 with mods that it just doesn't phase me anymore. If they can find a solution it'd be great but if not I'm fine with that, I'm quite happy with my purchase, but annoyed that I bought it before they sent me the e-mail about getting the free game from winning the contest...oh well, I'll use it to buy Baldur's Gate 2 when it comes out.
Me too I have this problem on Windows 7 64 bits... Just a bit annoying, but it would be great if GOG could fix this :)
Yep, same same. No biggie though, as others have mentioned.
I can't run the game with Windows 7 at all. Hope the issue is repaired soon.

You should be able to, since we all can. Can you tell us what you've tried? Maybe we can get your up and running. What I did was:

- right-click the installer and choose Run as Administrator
- chose to install to my game drive (don't install to Programs (x86 - try another location. I've read the default often causes issues).
- right-click on the desktop launcher, chose Properties and the Compatibility tab. Set it to run in Windows XP SP3 mode, and to always run as admin.
- once installed, I went through the steps outlined in the mod thread to install the widescreen, GUI, and other fixes mods.

I had to right-click on the setup files for the mods or they wouldn't install right... something you may want to try as well.

Yes, indeed, I did as well. I should have stated that. IWhen installing games and mods, I always do it as admin. Saves a lot of problems.

I just disable UAC -- saves even more problems. Didn't have to do any of this messing around. Yes, I know, less secure, but worth it for me. :P

Yeah, I've tried all the stuff like that and can't get the game to run. I've installed it in compatibility mode, tried running it in compatibility mode, administrator mode for all those and i just tried your suggestion of trying a different folder.

My greatest success so far has been to have a black screen with a "whir, whir...whir, whir" sound before the game crashes.

Yikes. I'd be upset too.

What version of 7? Is it fully patched and updated? And elapse list your security apps, like anti-virus, firewalls, and all that.

I have Avira AV and use the Comodo Firewall.

I have Win7 64 Pro. Everything is patched up. I've tried installing the game in the XP emulator, too, but with no luck.
Try completely turning off the firewall. I have that antivirus, and 7 Home Premium, and I can run it. Might just be Comodo. I have had problems in the past when gaming on XP with Comodo installed.
