Let me get this straight...

Regarding the bounies on the tails. The game expects me to hand in each tail individually, going through three dialogue options in the process each time, for one copper piece per tail? I can't magine it being that hard to simply add a 'give all tails' option.

So am I missing something, and indeed this is not as pointless and laborious as it appears, or shall I just drop my 80 rat tails at his feet and leave?

It's deliberately designed to show the bureaucratization of the job. Maybe TNO needs to fill a separate form for each individual rat tail. :) At this exchange rate, even with extreme grinding you can't earn a decent amount of money by killing rats. At most you'll get a couple of hundred coppers, which is equal to selling a piece of fine jewelry (and the latter is much less of a hassle). Anyway, you only need to 10 tails to the man. After that, when you re-enter the building, he'll have another mini-quest for you.

If you mean taking out the wererat in his basement I've already done that. Still, if the exchange is deliberately designed that like that, I can appreciate what they were trying to do with it. Thanks

There's a skeleton merchant in Dead Nations where you can sell multiple tails at once for 1 copper each. (Double-clicking on the text of the item allows you to select how many you want to sell.)
