ChiliDragon: Finally up and running on a resolution I really like! :) Thanks again for the screen shots, they were a big help.
No problem, you're welcome. I was also fiddeling around quite a lot with the resolutions, but this one really suits me.

drhoads: ...
Yea I hate too high resolutions as well, actually it totally ruins the game for me. Even 1280*700 is barely passable for me.

drhoads: Who likes the zoomed in close look for this game?
I really do. The graphics aren't the greatest, but I can overlook that because they're still more than good enough for me to make everything out.
haha.. Thanks guys. Glad to know that I am not the only one who enjoys these old sprite animations... lol...
Another fan of the initial look before modding.

It certainly was a pain in BG at times, but for planescape it just seems to 'work' somehow.
As clunky as the default resolution is, I have to agree that it just feels right. I tried setting it to 1280*1024 (yes, I still don't have a widescreen monitor... doubt I'll be able to afford one for a while, either) and it looked like, I don't know, a Fallout Tactics knock-off. You know, one of those games from East Europe that will pop up in the review section of a gaming magazine about once a year and that looks exactly like every game like it since 2000, always using the same isometric 2D graphics. The game was obviously made with a close-up view in mind, and a higher resolution makes for a more disconnected experience for me.

Kinda curious how it looks if you only adjust the aspect ratio, though. Anyone got a screenshot of x*800ish handy?

DreadMoth: You'll be wanting 1280x800, it seems to be the best 16:10 aspect resolution for the Infinity Engine games - not so high as to make everything tiny, and not so low as for everything to be too blurry.
Agreed. This is *really* true for anyone with an LCD monitor that supports 2560x1600. This is exactly twice the size of 1280x800 so setting the game to the lower resolution will completely fill the screen while keeping razor-sharp, without the normal blurring that happens with other resolutions (due to the scaling).

In short, gorgeous.

I hate widescreen mods for isometric games. Unless you're projecting it on a friggin wall, everything is just too damn small. I think the designers made it the distance it is for a reason and I think it works best in that position.
Well, personally I do like how the zoomed-in look feels. I would prefer it if there were a way to explore the gameworld without constant clicking, but I do think the close-up view is quite nice.

That said, I play at 1366x768 with the widescreen mod. I play the game on my 15.6 inch laptop, so I'm always sitting close to it. Scaled 640x480 is genuinely eyestrain-inducing, as I've learned by playing BG1 at original res. Most of the details are still large enough to be clear at such a low resolution, and I don't get a headache, so it's an acceptable compromise.

SimonG: I've got it running at 1280x720.

It looks perfect fo my tastes.
I agree. It was kind of a pain in the ass to get thetext to a good size (my fault also for using "float as universal font" thing, though), but once I got it right it looked pretty nice.
