Hey guys,

I just downloaded this game and coped the folder to my Applications folder on my Mac. When I try and launch the Pirates game, I get an error message saying the file is damaged and should be moved to the trash.

I have deleted and re-downloaded the game, and the same thing happens. I am using a Mid-2009 Macbook Pro with the latest Operating System (Mountain Lion).

Thanks for any help!

I managed to fix this, you have to change an option in the Security settings:

The app has been modified or damaged
The app’s code does not match the original code that was signed. The app has been modfied, or it may be broken or corrupted or have been tampered with. If you feel that an app has been damaged or tampered with, you should delete it by dragging it to the Trash.

Some apps and tools, such as AppleScript applications and some legacy tools, modify themselves after signing. These types of apps cannot be opened unless the Gatekeeper settings in the Security & Privacy preferences is set to “Anywhere.”

Open the General pane of Security & Privacy preferences

You may not copy all the files of the application or the application is not copied completely. Sometimes due to problem with MacBook Pro hard drive device you might have to face such type of error code on your computer screen. In this you may fix this by scanning MacKeeper. It optimizes performance and clean errors.

I had the same problem with Fallout, it was solved by installing the GOG downloader app and using that to bring the game down.

try running this terminal command: (replace '<GAME LAUNCH FILE>' with the launch file name)
xattr -cr ~/Applications/<GAME LAUNCH FILE>
