Now that there are also other languages supported, how can I change the language to german? There is no languagechanger EXE in the folder, no option in the installer to choose which language to install and no seperate installers for each language.
When I start the game it is english.

Some instructions please.

Have you tried using the German installer? I see installers in English, German, and French.

There is only one installer for the windows version. Even if you select an other language to download, it is always the same installer you are downloading. There is no difference. Only the Mac version has different installers.

I looked in the gamefolder and found in the Pirates Gold folder files named:

dosboxPGOLD_single.conf
dosboxPGOLD_singleF.conf
dosboxPGOLD_singleG.conf

I think these should be the config files for the different languages. With the installer all languages should be included. But when I open the files with a text editior, the text is exactly the same in every file.

EDIT:

OK I found the solution:

You have to open the properties of the shortcut and alter in the target line the part

dosboxPGOLD_single.conf

to

dosboxPGOLD_singleG.conf

This does the trick. But it isn't very comfortable. Has everybody to guess on it's own how this works?
There should be a proper language changer exe, seperate installers or a proper instruction included with the game.

The German installer isn't in German, seems like they link to the wrong installers.

Thank you.

Hi there,

it seems that the GOG-Version of Pirates! GOLD is a multilingual. So it's possible to play the game also in other (supported) languages. Unfortunately I can't remember all of them, but beside English I tested German and Frensh and works fine.

To do this, you have to edit the file "dosboxPGOLD.conf". You'll find it under "{Your Installationfolder of the Pirates Pack}\Pirates GOLD\dosboxPGOLD.conf".

Open the file with notepad and scroll down to the following entry:

...
[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
@echo off
mount C .
imgmount D ".\DATA.DAT" -t iso
C:
cls
D:
CALL PIRATESG.BAT
exit

Now delete this line

CALL PIRATESG.BAT

and replaced it with these lines

cd piratesg.cd
lh cdpatch %1
piratesg %2 %3 %4 %5
cdpatch x
cd ..

Be aware not to delete "exit" in the last line!

After that type the following letter for your prefered language behind "piratesg" in the third replaced line

f.E.

piratesg f %2 %3 %4 %5
(as you can see there's added an "f" for Frensh")

or

piratesg g %2 %3 %4 %5
(and here "g" for German)

Maybe there are some other supported languages. Just try it out for yourself.

Hope it helps somebody.
