Since I recently upgraded my PC setup, I now play in the livingroom with a 55" 4k TV with sound over HDMI and a RX 570 in my PC. I wasn't happy with the performance of my previous .confs for these games (and I will probably make changes to other games .conf files as well in the future).
Where I had serious problems with sound stutters with openGL when sound played directly over the rearpanel connectors I have none of these issues when I play sound over HDMI, so that is a big bonus.
Also I found gameplay to be a lot smoother now but I also do not make use of the full 4k or even 1080p capabilities of my TV, I just set a fullscreen resolution of 720p, which is more than enough for any dosgame.
To install just copy the .confs into the game installation folders, make backups of the originals if you want.
Pinball Dreams Deluxe
Pinball Fantasies Deluxe
Note for Pinbal Illusions:
This game is a bit finicky, the intro makes heavy use of resolution switching which modern displays have trouble with, so there isn't a lot that can be done about that, just press SPACE as soon as you hear the introsong.
If the menu is out of whack, then it's probably the intro which messes things up, press Ctrl+F9 and restart the game and skip the intro as fast as you can.
Pinball Illusions
Note that I've set the fullscreen resolution to 1280x720, so if you have a screen with another aspect ratio than 16:9 you should enter another resolution (e.g. 1280x800 if you have a 16:10 monitor) but don't go all crazy selecting HD or 4k resolution because then you'll most probably run into performance issues.
