Anyone else do the Radiant Spore fight yet in the Stalwart Mines?

After the initial "OMG what killed them instantly!" moment and a few retries, I found it was a challenging and fun fight. Not many games can make me fist pump when I beat something, but PoE consistently does with the boss fights.

The initial conversation with the spore seems like it could be interesting as well, but my main character lacked the resolve and/or constitution for it.

I just had my first run in with it and it is such a jerk. I chomped a dragon burger beforehand to boost my resolve; but just conversing with it (and passing the 13 and 10 resolve checks) still started the fight with the status effect.

Either way, the fight was going pretty well - clearing out the vith and sporelings, that is until the 5 vines just started chaining simultaneous rock throws on the same character. They downed my whole buffed up party one by one. I'm guessing I'm underleveled or there's some mechanic I missed with those rock throws, but Eder can only take about 3 - 5 full volleys before going down and its game over soon after.

Tips, strategies?

I'm still wondering if I was missing a mechanic with the rock throwing too.

But I was able to beat it with the following strategy.

1. Keep your entire party against the back wall and bring your most durable character forward to start the fight, then retreat right after bringing the trash with you.
2. Use summons to help you wear down the trash and take the brunt of the early rock pounding, they won't last very long so make sure your tank(s) are closer to the vines than the weaker members of your party.
3. As soon as you get rid of the trash, try and separate the focus of the vines and get in melee range. I was able to do this by having a tank barbarian on the left and a tank chanter on right supplementing himself with his summons and a druid healing them when needed.
4. I had the rest of my party (dual wield rogue, gun rogue and cipher) kill the spore itself, after which the vines die too and the fight ends.

At one point I tried to kill the vines before the spore and that almost worked, but my rogues and cipher went down before I was able to finish. Your mileage may vary depending on the composition of your party.
Victory!

Yeah, I think the trick, for me, was to just rush the boss once the minions were down. The tentacles have too much HP and will just wear you down and wreck you through attrition. This was basically my first quest in WM2 so now I'm gonna check out Stalwart and see what else there is to do.

Thanks!

Nice work. :)

I just attempted the Bog Dragon fight. I don't want to spoil it with details yet, but it puts the Spore to shame....

I had to throw in the towel on that for now, although I *almost* won twice. I think I need a different party configuration. Mr. Bog Dragon likes to tear your low constitution melee apart, literally. My main character rogue has died multiple times in one hit from full health, I don't mean just down, like game over dead.

On one attempt the Dragon was near death too and my rogue was the only one alive / standing and then insta gibbed before she could finish it. But I still love it. :D
