I have looked all over on my hard disk and can`t find the save files for this game does anyone know where they are by default ?

You need to specify your Operating system and where was installed your game (in the case of Window ).

Windows 10, program x 86,Gog Galaxy,Games

%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity

Where %USERPROFILE% is by default: C:/Users/<username>/

Anyway, in the command prompt if you execute

"echo %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity" you will receive the absolute path.

Or simply type or copy/paste
%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity
into the Start / Run box the appropriate Explorer window containing the files will open up.
