Hi GoG community. I purchased PoE last year, but only recently began to play it this week. PoE is really the first game I've played on GoG. After my first run for several hours, I closed it out, saw it had cloud saved, and went about my day. When I returned to load it, the load/continue options at the homescreen were faded out (meaning nothing was selectable). So I closed it out, reopened it, and it didn't have anything but the initial autosave at the very beginning. I had several manual saves, autosaves, and quicksave before I logged out.

So I played it for about 30 minutes and saved again to test it. Closed it out, reloaded it, and the load/continue file was selectable, but it only listed my previous initial CC run, not the new CC (??). I thought "maybe it needs to be reinstalled, maybe it's one of Obsidians updates and I'm late" (even though the auto-update feature was selected). Uninstalled, re-installed, loaded, and again, first CC with only the initial opening part (autosaved). Performed another trail run with new CC, closed it, reopened it different ways with various results: tried from the desktop, the PoE icon, GoG, then selected the game from the left side list, GoG then load PoE, etc.; sometimes load/continue was shaded, sometimes it had SOME files to load, sometimes it only had the last save, sometimes it would only had my first (deleted) CC.

I clearly see it cloud save and load from the Galaxy cloud (the spot next to "PLAY" tab). There is nothing wrong with my computer or "interwebs", and I've had no issues on Steam saving/loading. I tried to reach out to GoG's staff a few times since Tuesday with nothing more than automated responses. I played it for another 40+ hours and left it running in hopes I would get a reply/solution. I'm not a computer expert, just a simple gamer that was barely able to figure out EE Keeper for Baldur's Gate (yes, laugh it up!)

Am I doing something wrong here on GoG's cloud function? Is there a way to retrive my recent game save file from the cloud or even my drive? If not, is there a simple straightforward method to simply save my game and play it without the hassle of it being random? Any solutions are welcome and again, I'm not a computer expert, just a simple gamer. Thanks :)

Vorpal_Spoon: snip.
It sounds like Galaxy isn't syncing properly between sessions, I couldn't tell you the reason. Maybe GOG support will get back to you about that.

I would turn the Cloud saves function off in "Settings -> Features" if you're having these issues.

You can try to recover the latest cloud save by clicking Pillars of Eternity in Galaxy, then the "More" button and choose "Backups & Goodies". On this screen you can directly download the latest cloud saves and try to restore them yourself.

Pillars of Eternity stores it's saved games in:

C:\Users\*Your User Name*\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity

Hope this helps.
Thank you MikeMaximus for the advice. Is there anyway to extract the save files from the cloud save, and perhaps download it into the file in a folder for the drive? I would prefer to play it and save/load and no longer use the GoG cloud feature if it can be avoided. However, I'm deep into the game and would hate to have to begin anew a 4th time (but I will if that's my only option).

Sorry I should have explained what Galaxy does when you manually download the cloud saves from the Backups & Goodies page, as it doesn't tell you anything about it.

When you manually download the cloud saves by default it will save them to:

C:\GOG Games\Pillars of Eternity\!Downloads\!Cloud Sync Backup

The above location will be different if you installed the game to an alternate location or have different default download settings.

You can then copy the save files from the above location to:

C:\Users\*Your User Name*\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity

Hopefully this works out for you, then just turn off the cloud saves and continue playing.
I did as you suggested. I've turned off the cloud save feature. I turned off my internet connection. Ran a trail game up to the start, saved, closed, reopened, and no save/continue, so I am at my wits end. I deleted anything GOG and Galaxy related from my drive in hopes for a fresh start. I received a reply literally 6 days later, and I still haven't got any help after that, submitting a file they requested with no real feedback. It cost me $50+ dollars and 90+ hours, but I've learned my lesson. Thank you for the assist and being more helpful than their staff; you might want to apply with GOG since their admin/staff can't seem to get their shit together.
