Late in the game, with many items giving bonuses to various stats, especially many items giving bonuses to more than one stat, I find myself often juggling items. "My ranger could use this ring with +3Dex, but he's already using the helm with +1Dex +1Perception, so that will be wasted, I could move the helm to my fighter, but then his belt of +2Perception will need to be exchanged. Maybe that necklace from the cleric..." etc.

It's annoying. I either come up with suboptimal combinations, or just waste some stat bonuses because two items provide the same one.

Solution?

Make stat bonuses stack.

I understand why for balance reasons this was not desirable, so as not to create uber-strong characters, but this could be solved in a better way:

Stats have diminishing returns.

Meaning you get smaller bonuses for increasing Strength for example from 20 to 25 than you'd get for 10 to 15.

Just make the bonus to stat relation non linear, the higher you go the more of same stat points you have to give to get same bonuses.

This way you won't be able to easily make an overpowered character by dumping on him all items that increase the same stat, while at the same time if he does end up with 2 items increasing same stat, then it won't be wasted. Will definitely make item management easier.
