I first played PoE 1 1/2 years ago and decided to replay it a few days ago. Now I have this bug that I didn't have the first time - I'm playing with the same hardware as the first time (a Lenovo G570 laptop), the only difference being that I upgraded from Mint 17 to 18.
The game runs relatively smoothly most of the time, but approximately every 70 seconds it becomes very laggy for about 15 seconds. The reason for this is apparently that the load on the CPU keeps slowly going up and then crashing back down. Please look at the attached screenshot. It lags when the CPUs are all fully busy, then goes back to running normally. It keeps going through these cycles. It doesn't matter what I'm doing in the game, this happens no matter whether I'm exploring a new area or just looking at a dialogue window.
I have the latest patched version and all graphics settings are set to lowest. As I said, the same hardware worked fine last time. No other programs are slower/buggier than they used to. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
