What exactly is the object of Boss Hanuani O Wie? Are we supposed to beat the darn thing or not? If so how? Is it even beatable?

It's 1 of 2 "megabosses" in the game so far. I couldn't handle it on my first playthrough, so I gave up (same w/ the other one). That was on Normal mode. Let's see what I can do w/ a more xp run (albeit on Veteran difficulty) this 2nd game...
