I think the game still feels unpolished overall. Maybe 2 years was not enough time for coming up with lore, design, rules, balance, testing and delivering a polished engine.

The art and the setting are the main qualities, for me. The game can be very immersive, mainly in the beggining! And that's all I ask for actually. I felt my imersion break just sometimes due to encounters being to repetitive, almost like a hack 'n slash (until a scripted interaction appeared to grip me again!)

Great game... after some patches though. Hoping for some balance fix in the new 1.05 patch
It appeared to be very boring.

There is a place in Defiance Bay where "animancers" dwell (the guys who research soul matters and watchers). I, the Watcher, go inside and have nothing to do except to share a few boring words with a statue.
NOTHING TO DO THERE. I was like... what? Really?

And then I remember Society of Sensations in Torment.
if you know what I mean...)

I's part of at least two side quests, one companion quest and the main quest. IIRC you don't get any new quests there tho.

I am disappointed. Although there are many good things in the game, due to the slow pace and missing elements that made BG1 , BG2, Torment, etc. so much fun, I've stopped playing and probably won't go back. I'm not too sad about the $44 and 20 some hours invested. It's just not right for me. I list some of the reasons below.

For me, the pace was too slow. It was more than 6 hours of playing time per level and felt even slower than that. By the time I had a full party, every new area meant four or more desperate fights for little gain and it just didn't seem to be worth the effort. The most important thing missing for me were the memorable NPCs like those in BG. I found no one that I felt a bond with like Imoen and no companion like Minsc and Boo. No Miniature Giant Space Hamsters here. Nor did I discover noble warriors like that little ball of courage, Mazzy Fentan. The watcher visions in PoE didn't seem to make much sense nor relate to what my party needed to do. Maybe I missed something or the importance of those strange visions will be revealed later on. I'll probably never know.

Your mileage may vary.
I love the game. The game reminds me of the times, when i played Baldur´s gate and Icewind Dale series lot of and i have missed new isometric Baldur´s gate.style RPG. Game has interesting story and cause addiction. I am old school RPG gamer anyway. Lately, i am focused to other games because i am waiting 1.05 update.
After finishing the game, I wrote up my last thoughts over here. No spoilers, more of a review format altho not quite.

heading there and reading it now! You finished just in time for the 1.05 update. You plan on playing again? (maybe it will say in your review, so no need to repeat yourself if so)

I have already started new game with 1.05 and developer commentary. That's something that doesn't happen too often with me and games.

Altho I'm actively holding myself from playing it today so I can do other things in my life. Whenever I turn that game on it's suddenly midnight and the whole day is gone.
