Howdy all,

I've been enjoying PoE very much, however I'm encountering a problem using the console commands. I cannot use the charinfo or charinfo 1 and I have the latest patch 1.305 to get the char ID's I need.

I will mention why I am I choosing to use the console command and that is because I want to lightning strike douche bag backer NPCs that are breaking immersion and are clearly in need of death for their heinous crimes. Anyways...with that side note, I wish there was a mod that would let me just kill those SOBs and move on, however, everyone in the world comes to the defense of bastards apparently when they are attacked. So unrealistic.

End rant.

Why can't I use the kill (charID) and be done? I can't get the 'charinfo' to work, tooltip isn't showing anything.

Thanks for reading, any help is much appreciated.

Maybe because they've broken the console commands with patch? I've heard some of my friends been complaining about console commands issues after patch, and, apparently, since GoG swapped game itself on already patched version, there is no chance to revert back.

I had used the console for recovering items that got lost due the bug with NPC inventories with success. Though maybe some commands could be broken. As well, if you are copying/pasting be sure there are not extra spaces (such as tab) instead of white spaces, I had that problem at the beginning.

I had no problems with release version (literally none), so I haven't used console once. When I felt combat starts to irritate me, I simply turned difficulty down and played like that.
I have problems with patched version, when my character died on plain open space with no enemies or traps nearby. I laughed and uninstalled the game, since I can't download old version, and I'm not in the mood to beta-test it. :)

Anyway, friend of mine been trying to add some values to his character to explore as much dialogue options as he could, and he said game does not saves added values anymore (if I understood him correctly). Surely, he reverts back to original, console-free version after exploration, but he said that earlier game saved values added after save with console alterations was loaded, now it doesn't, and he had to type console commands all over again, which is quite exhausting, given the amount of dialogues we have in this game. He is really frustrated now.

Because (according to your post above) you're using the wrong command. You must use:

FindCharacter <character name>

Note that <character name> must not contain spaces. If you have a character named 'Bobette Dillan', then just use FindCharacter Bobette .

Why can't I use the kill (charID) and be done?
You can. Suppose you get 'NPC_Bobette(Clone)_1' from the above command. Just type:

kill NPC_Bobette(Clone)_1

The IE mod adds additional console commands, including what you are talking about. There is also a link on that page that gives you all the commands added. You don't even need to use "iroll20s" to activate them every time either. You never need it, in fact. Also, the new IE mod includes a checkbox to alter the speed of sneak mode to make it the same as regular, non-sneak movement. While this is a bit of a cheat for stealthy backstabbing rogues, it is also a huge time saver when you are exploring areas for hidden caches. Nice for a 2nd playthrough imo, for people who didn't write down their locations the first time and have to search all over again (like me ... kicking myself).

Just be careful which version you get, and backup the file it over-writes just in case it gives you problems. That way you can always get rid of the mod by over-writing again with the original file.

There is also another helpful mod that gets rid of autosaving, which should drastically speed up screen transition load times. Unfortunately though it is not compatable with the IE mod (unless this has changed recently). You just have to remember to quicksave often (These are the claims of the mod - I have not tried it myself yet .... not until my next playthrough, and hopefully the next patch will be available by then).

I already installed this, it's useful! Thanks for the tips.
