Hey all!

I was browsing through my Pharaoh/Cleopatra CD recently, and in the AUDIO folder, subfolder VOICE, you can find all the .wav files that are the things your townspeople may say to you during the course of the game. One of these files really intrigues me. It's a .wav file called "pharaoh_e01" and if you click on it, you get a deep male voice that says this:

"How impertinent. When I wish to speak to you, I will address you."

Now, I've been playing (and loving) this game for ten years or so, and I thought I'd heard everything the townspeople can possibly say, but I've never heard THAT during the course of any game I've played. It seems pretty obvious to me that this is meant to be the voice of the PHARAOH HIMSELF!

My question to all of you is: Has anyone ever seen the Pharaoh wandering their city at any time? What did you do to deserve a visit from the big kahuna? Is it only possible in certain missions? Or is this file just there to irritate people like me who have nothing better to do with their time than explore their game CDs? :) Maybe it was something the developers put in and then forgot to use?

If anyone out there has any info, let me know!

The Pharaoh does not show up in this game, as a sprite wandering the city. It is possible that such a thing was planned, but it was decided not to have it. All that file will be is something that Sierra was planning to include and never did and just didn't delete the file.

Yeah, I guess I already knew (suspected?!) that, although I'd prefer a definite "NO" from someone in the know (i.e., a developer). No offense intended to the illustrious poster that responded though...;)

Hey Shukaku--maybe you and me could get together at some point and create our own mod around this little soundbyte? Imagine a displeased pharaoh waving his little mace and trashing large pyramid complexes, or a happy one waving his crook and converting crude huts into palatial estates? What say you? :)

The developers of this game are long gone and I have no idea what they're up to now XD Would love to, but:
1) I don't have time these days :(
2) I don't really play Pharaoh much these days
3) I'm not sure it's possible to modify Pharaoh without using hex editing and that's extremely risky.....
