hello everyone!!

i just bought pharaoh here and i'm using a laptop 1366*768, but the game run is 640*480 i still can change to 1024*768 but still no wide screen

so is there a solution to play this game in wide screen with no issues?

Follow the instructions below to enable the widescreen hack for Pharaoh:
1) Navigate to the following link (GOG.com version only!): http://www.wsgf.org/dr/cleopatra-queen-nile/en
2) Download the zip/rar included on that page to somewhere on your PC
3) Extract the exe for the resolution you want (preferably to the desktop, the resolution MUST be supported by your graphics card)
4) Rename the exe you extracted to something like PharaohHD.exe
5) Move it to the Pharaoh install folder.
6) Run the game from that exe and select 1024*768 to get the proper resolution.

This does only work with some restrictions. I tried the 1920x1200 resolution. It works fine for the ingame graphics but if you open up a menu or the overseers view, it will not stretch the background image with it and some text layers (like choosing the family name) will be dislocated.

I recomment playing it in 1024p

The background images can't be changed as these are hard coded into the game files, this is a known and incurable bug of every Pharaoh resolution change and most people just accept that. I would not recommend playing on 1280x1024, that is a very old and obsolete resolution. I play on 1080p and have no issues with the disjointed graphics, as I accept that it's not possible to sort it.

You downloaded the wrong .exe file, you are either trying the cleopatra exe on the pharaoh version of the game or you are using the pharaon exe on the cleopatra version of the game.

The exe file name is the same, so just double check you downloaded the correct version

I have tried this solution on my PC but it's not working. Any resolution I try, it always stays the same way as before. I'm desperate. Could anyone help?

I have finally figured it out. I had to change the res in the game :D sorry for the post.

1) Source codes were lost in 2004 after Studio "Impressions Games" closed.

GOG can't and they don't need to.


About 1366x768
The horizontal resolution must be a multiple of 4.
(otherwise the graphics of the game will be distorted)
Therefore, a resolution of 1366x768 will not work, since 1366 is not a multiple of 4.
Try 1360x768

The patch does not work anymore : i tried with various EXE and the same message appears

"ERR : Buildings modal has incorrect no of lnes (258°, expected 243

Would you still like to continue ?"

I bought the Pharaoh gold version on GOG, so i have only one Pharaoh's folder in which copy the EXE.

Does anyone have any idea to solve this problem ?

edit : i found it, a specific file exists for Clopatra and it works for pharaoh gold...
