Good day All,

I have been searching forums for a similar problem to mine but came up empty handed. I have the original Pharaoh and Cleopatra disk. When I installed it on my windows 10 laptop the graphics display perfectly, however the mouse only operates in the top left quarter of the screen. The pointer physically stops in the middle of my screen. So for example if the game is busy playing and I want to close a notification on the bottom right of the screen I need to move my mouse pointer to more or less the bottom right of the quarter that the mouse operates in.

I have attached a picture and added some arrows to show what I mean. The red arrow shows how far the pointer moves. So this is actually the far right of the screen. The blue shows more or less where I have to be to select the options in the middle of the screen

I have just bought the GOG version and installed it and have exactly the same issue as my original.

I have tried a usb mouse as well as the touch pad. I have also tried running in different compatibility modes, screen resolutions, installing the display patch and running as an administrator.

I am really hoping someone has come across this and knows a fix as this is one of my favourite games and I will be crushed if I have to retire it.

Thank you!

I'm sorry to hear that this is happening with one of your most cherished games. Unfortunately, I'm not technically gifted enough to offer any real advice. All I can suggest is, have you tried installing the game on another computer and/or operating system? You've established that the problem occurs with both your CD and the GoG version, so it'd be interesting to see if you can replicate it on another system, Windows 10 or otherwise.

Thank you for your response. I have run it on my old Windows 7 laptop and it worked well. Unfortunately I do not have access to another windows 10 PC. I will try and ask around though and see if I can find a friend who will be able to help.

If you have a laptop or 4K monitor or TV.
Scaling (text and elements) over 100% (125% or 150%) is often used at high screen resolutions
(this is to make the elements larger and the text to be readable)
Because of this, the picture or buttons are displaced, the mouse click does not fall.

For Windows 10, you can enable Scaling Override for Game only
(to avoid changes to the entire System)
Right click on Pharaoh.exe
Properties =>Compatibility =>HighDPISettings
check the box OverrideScalingBehaviour and "Application"

For Windows 7, you need to return Systemwide Scaling back to 100%.
Start =>Control Panel =>Screen =>EaseScreenReader =>Small-100%
