When I begin the game it will get to the "Breakaway Games" splash screen with the blue triangle logo and then freeze. The mouse cursor is still movable though. It always freezes at this exact point, everytime.

I've tried everything I can find in the fourm, like putting Pharaoh on my anti-virus exemption list and changing the compatatbility mode.
I have even used the 'imagecfg' file to run Pharaoh on a single processor, CPU0, but still it gets to the "Breakaway Games" splash screen freezes.

I have read that someone has replaced the mss32.dll file with the file from Zeus and that worked. Can anyone host that particular file for download?

Does anyone have any other solutions? Or can you let me know what comes after the 'breakaway games' splash screen (like a bink video?) as that could be the problem.

I've contacted GOG support and am waiting for a reply. Thanks in advance?

Hey OP, did you get any response from GOG on this? I am having the same issue and no amount of fiddling will resolve it.

They replied but it was generic stuff that people on the forum have already mentioned.

I even tried the mss32.dll file from Zeus, but that never worked.
Heartbreak! Loved this game, was so excited to roll back the years and enjoy it again.
So I got a response back from support and one of the things they suggested was switching to 16 bit color depth (quote below). That fixed the issue, maybe it'll work for you too?

"Right-click an empty space on your desktop and select Screen Resolution here go to Advanced settings, in the Monitor tab select High Color (16bit) from Colors."
