None of the buildings show their animations. In addition the water supplies never show as full even when fully staffed, and fire is displayed as a strange mish-mash of other sprites. Has anyone else had this problem?

This is a known problem. The most common solution is to just restart your PC and make sure your using the widescreen patch as well.
