Is there a way to play with the settings so that the movies in phantasmagoria 2 are better quality? I seem to remember there being an interlacing option so the movies weren't so pixelated. I'm running windows 7 and a big flat screen tv so the movie segments are just awful.

No.

pimpmonkey2382: No.
Ok weird. I've seen other gameplay footage on line with internlacing on...that is, lines running through the video to make it clearer.

Thats for the windows version, gog version is dos.
When playing the game, if you click the big P in the bottom middle of the screen, it will pull up the options menu, from there you want to click "more" and you'll see an option that says "movie quality" in the top right, you want to click that and set it to "ON". I don't know why this is off by default and why there's no way to reach that option from the main menu, but if fixed the horrible video quality for me.

The Windows version has much better video quality, even without interlacing. I still have the discs and they work just fine on Windows 7. An installation patch was released a few years ago that allows you to install all discs to your PC, so that you don't have to change discs all the time.
I think the non-interlaced is better than the interlacing, but just turn off movie detail in the options if you don't want it--I also prefer the "fullscreen movie" setting to the "half-screen" setting.

Meant to add that even with interlacing on or off, whichever you prefer, the FMV is poor because the tech at the time was so limited. In a sense they were ahead of their time because the hardware to handle quality FMV at decent resolutions is ubiquitous today. I think Ken & Roberta got out way too soon, although I feel sure they might disagree...;)

This reply is decades old but i decided to replay Phant 2. The Gog version uses dos box so it is the dos version. I haven't found a large P in game to click on. What I did notice though was that playing the game in windowed mode cleaned up the video alot for obvious reasons.

Did you get to that movie quality setting through the gog version?

Sorry, I didn't realize that this thread was talking about Phant 2. The first one has this exact same issue, I haven't played the second one, so I don't know how to change the same options. Sorry.
